    Blastocyst culture

Process of culturing embryos to the blastocyst stage outside the human body

    What is Blastocyst Culture?

Blastocyst Culture is an advanced embryo culture technique used during In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to improve the likelihood of implantation and a successful pregnancy. Unlike traditional embryo culture, which typically assesses embryos on the third day after fertilization, Blastocyst Culture extends the culture period to five or six days. This allows embryos to develop to the blastocyst stage, a more advanced stage of embryonic development that is closer to the natural implantation process in the uterus.

Benefits and Causes Addressed by Blastocyst Culture

The primary benefit of Blastocyst Culture is its ability to select the most viable embryos for transfer. By culturing embryos to the blastocyst stage, we can better assess their quality and developmental potential, which helps in choosing the embryos with the highest chances of successful implantation. This technique is particularly beneficial for couples undergoing IVF who have experienced previous implantation failures or have a higher risk of producing multiple embryos that may not be of optimal quality. Blastocyst Culture also reduces the risk of multiple pregnancies by allowing for the transfer of fewer embryos while maintaining high success rates

    The Blastocyst Culture Process

At Kamna Fertility, the Blastocyst Culture process is integrated seamlessly into your IVF treatment plan. The procedure begins with ovarian stimulation to produce multiple eggs, which are then retrieved through a minor surgical procedure. In our state-of-the-art laboratory, the retrieved eggs are fertilized with sperm to create embryos. Instead of assessing these embryos on the third day, we extend the culture period to five or six days, allowing them to reach the blastocyst stage.

During this extended culture period, our skilled embryologists monitor the development of the embryos closely. The goal is to select the most viable blastocysts for transfer. On the day of the embryo transfer, the chosen blastocysts are carefully placed into the uterus through a straightforward procedure. This approach enhances the likelihood of successful implantation and pregnancy, providing you with the best chance for a successful IVF outcome.
